Let's cut to the chase. It's a stick. Pretty hard to screw up a stick. That being said, it's a very nice stick, and it works just like they said it would. I am not a bookbinder. I don't have years in the printing industry, nor do I need it for crafts or school projects. But my wife had an old book of family history information. A really thick book. A book with the cover torn off. I bought some bookbinding tape and this bone folder and put the cover back on. The folder is invaluable for smoothing the tape out and making sure it's stuck properly to the book.I fixed her book and I was a hero! (I like being her hero!!) Then I thought of an old cookbook my late mother gave me 40 years ago. Its cover was falling off, so I fixed it, too. Again, this bone folder was indispensable. Now I'm looking for things I can use it for.Has it changed my life? No, but it's made parts of it easier. Not bad for a high-tech $7- stick! As a hardcore origamist, constantly creasing paper really takes a toll on my thumbnail. The friction wears away my nail little by little until it's down to the quick, and it hurts! But! There is a solution for all you other origami enthusiasts out there! A quality bone folder, and this is a great place to buy one. I ordered my bone folder and got it a day early, in an envelope lined with bubblewrap. It's really well made, and it's real bone, unlike a lot of other folders out there made out of plastic or other materials. It feels really good in my hands, and is very organic and natural. It has a few small impurities, due to the nature of the bone it was made from, but I love that about it. The point is perfect for opening up paper for a squash fold, too!All in all, this is a fantastic buy. Just be careful if you have a dog. Mine keeps trying to use his begging eyes because he thinks it's a treat for him haha!I love this product! I've used it daily ever since it was delivered. I can't believe I've worked this long without it! I even keep it in my pocket, because I used it for just about everything I do in the library, from smoothing out book tape and book labels, to all kinds of book repair. I've also purchased a far more expensive version made of teflon from DemCo, but I have gravitated toward this one primarily because of the ergonomic fit in my hand, the cool, smooth feel of the product (I think it is made of real bone), and the pointed end makes it far more versatile than the rectangular teflon one I've also purchased. It's definitely worth more than what you pay for! I may buy another for home use.Its perfect for scoring paper with a sharp crease. I would buy again. Great for crafting. Scrabbooking, cardmaking. It is sturdy so it won't break when using lots of pressure. This product met all my expectations. It is the perfect length and very smooth. I use it for my origami. I had been using a folder made out of bamboo but this one is much better at creasing. The wood ones also have a tendency to break at the tip after a lot of wear because I like to press rather hard to make nice firm creases. The bone folder looks like it will hold up very well under my usage. The only down side is that it does not have a pointed side like the wood one for getting into tight spaces. Over all it is five stars for me!This seems to be a fairly decent, sturdy bone folder. It has a good weight and feel in my hand, and the tip is finished off nicely and scores well. The one thing that disappointed me was that the rounded end on the back was left chunky and unfinished. I'm not sure why it wouldn't have been sanded to a similar but rounded edge -- that's how other bone folders I have used have all come. But since it's real bone, I was able to grab a few grits of sandpaper and finish the tool to my satisfaction.Great for paper projects.Used one of these many years ago when folding D size design plans and even in the digital age I found myself needing to fold plans again. This did the job. Because it is natural bone you might find some variances between each one. Mine is not perfectly flat all the way across but I was able to find the specific section of the bone that did the trick. This is also a good too for using on sewing project as you can use it as a turning point and to dry press seams.Handy tool to have even if you don't use it all the time.
