This is a great book that gives a real life account of the shaping of early Canada by trade. This stands as a big difference with building America. In Canada the natives generally cooperated with early traders for the goods they could get. Also, another notable point is the dominance of Scottish people in exploring and running the difficult cold country, they are certainly a tough and driven people.
